Heritage Accommodation - Mornington, Dunedin

Home

“Warm, relaxing and homely” are some of the descriptions used by people who have enjoyed staying at The Albion Cottage (c 1910). The accommodation is designed to encompass all the things you come to expect at home from heat pump airconditioning and full kitchen facilities to a smart LED TV/DVD player and wifi in a character cottage.

Albion Cottage is tastefully decorated inside and is surrounded by an array of flowering plants/trees and a variety of birds and butterflies. You can enjoy a peaceful beautiful garden – pick from the ground the best Walnuts you've ever tasted in April/May and garden strawberries in Summer-  all within a short walk (20 minutes) from central city cafes, restaurants and shops.   Only a 5 minute walk away from the cottage is a local Countdown Supermarket, outstanding Bakery (including Gluten free), the Mornington family Tavern (great for evening meals) and local favourites Tasse Cafe (highly recommended) and Alto Cafe.

Dunedin leads the way as a New Zealand city thriving on its heritage and is continually striving to preserve its architectural history.  Walk through Dunedin city and you will be astounded by all the beautiful Victorian and Edwardian buildings that are being restored.

Dunedin is also known for its culinary experiences.  Award-winning restaurants serve fresh local seafood and delicacies, quirky bars are found in intriguing alleyways, cafes filled with coffee purists and connoisseurs and an entertainment precinct that thrives on the vibrancy brought about by being a University city.

Dunedin offers a spectacular coastal landscape with a harbour which offers a popular place for kayaking, rowing, windsurfing, fishing and yachting.

Visit Dunedin's Botanic Gardens (28 hectares of trees and park land located close to the central city), the Chinese Gardens, Art Gallery, Otago Settlers' Museum, Hocken Library, Larnach Castle, Olveston Home, Cadbury's Chocolate Factory, Speights Brewery, Royal Albatross centre to name but a few of Dunedin's many attractions.  Dunedin visitors can also see Whales, Dolphins, Seals and Penguins all within easy reach from the city and nearby peninsula.  The world famous Taieri Gorge Railway trip leaving from Dunedin's historic railway station should not be missed for both young and old with spectacular views as the train winds through the steep gorge.

Albion Cottage is a great place to visit while travelling, on holiday or just for a relaxing get-away.  Our Cottage is also ideal for business trips, job relocations and graduation visits for Otago University.

We hope you choose The Albion Cottage when you next visit Dunedin.
